Twin Cities Parade of Ponds - 2006 Wrap-Up
Twin Cities Parade of Ponds, a self-guided tour of 119 water features located throughout the greater Twin Cities area, gave pond enthusiasts a wonderful chance to view cascading waterfalls, rippling streams and a wide variety of water gardens from small intimate settings to huge swimmable ponds.
A fundraiser for Children's Cancer Research Fund and the non-profit Minnesota Water Garden Society, this year's Tour raised $38,065.00. "We are very happy to present a donation to Children's Cancer Research Fund for $28,546.75 this year, said Steve Hedberg, president of Hedberg Landscape Supplies and a major sponsor of the Tour. "We are also delighted to present $9,516.25 to the Minnesota Water Garden Society which uses the money for educational purposes."
"I would like to thank the 2,200 people who explored the exciting hobby of water gardening and also our co-sponsors for this year's Tour," concluded Hedberg. Co-sponsors for this year's Tour, which was held the last two weekends in July, include Pioneer Press/Spaces Magazine, Anchor Block Company, Guaranty Bank, Aquascape Designs, Inc., Hedberg Maps, the Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association, and the Minnesota Water Garden Society whose members volunteered over 2,000 hours of service.
